Pune Metro Launches Non-KYC 'Ek Pune Transit Card' for Hassle-Free Ticket Purchases

In a significant move to enhance the commuting experience for travelers, Pune Metro has unveiled the ‘non-KYC ek Pune transit card.’ This innovative card allows commuters to purchase tickets without the need for identity verification, streamlining the ticketing process and making public transport more accessible.

The introduction of the non-KYC card adds to the existing offerings, which include the widely adopted ‘ek Pune card’ and the ‘vidyarthi pass card’ specifically designed for students. To date, the Pune Metro has sold an impressive 46,659 ‘ek Pune cards’ and 15,865 ‘vidyarthi pass cards,’ showcasing the popularity of these travel options among local residents and students alike.

Launched on Monday, the non-KYC transit card is a game changer for commuters. Unlike other travel cards that require documentation for purchase, this new card is solely intended for travel purposes and can be acquired with ease, promoting seamless journeys across the metro system.

Maha-Metro managing director Shravan Hardikar expressed his pride in this new initiative, stating, “This is the first time a non-KYC transferable travel card is being introduced in India, which is a matter of pride for Pune residents. Over 75% of Pune Metro tickets are already purchased digitally, the highest in India.” This statistic underscores the growing trend of digital ticketing, further enhanced by the introduction of the non-KYC card.

In addition to its convenience, the non-KYC ek Pune transit card offers attractive travel discounts comparable to those of the standard ek Pune card. Commuters can enjoy a 10% discount on weekdays and a generous 30% discount on weekends, making it an economical choice for regular travelers.

As Pune Metro continues to innovate and enhance its services, the launch of the non-KYC ‘ek Pune transit card’ reflects a commitment to improving public transportation accessibility and convenience. With digital purchases on the rise, this initiative is poised to make commuting in Pune easier and more efficient for everyone.
