PM Modi to Inaugurate Namo Bharat Corridor: A Step Forward in Regional Connectivity
Marking a significant milestone in regional connectivity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a 13-km stretch of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor. This section, between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar, has been developed at a cost of approximately ₹4,600 crore. The corridor aims to revolutionize urban transportation and improve travel efficiency in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The Namo Bharat corridor is a part of India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), designed to reduce congestion and provide a high-speed transit option for commuters. With trains designed to run at speeds of up to 180 km/h, the system promises faster, safer, and more efficient travel between major cities in the NCR. The initiative is expected to significantly cut down travel time, making it an attractive alternative to road transport.
This stretch includes state-of-the-art stations, passenger-friendly features, and advanced signaling systems to ensure a world-class commuting experience. The corridor is also equipped with eco-friendly measures such as energy-efficient trains and green buildings at its stations, aligning with India’s sustainability goals.
The launch of this phase is part of a broader vision to enhance regional mobility and drive economic growth. Once fully operational, the entire Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor will span 82 km, connecting key urban centers and supporting the development of satellite towns around Delhi.
This landmark project reflects the government's commitment to creating world-class infrastructure while addressing the growing demand for sustainable urban transportation solutions.
