Mumbai BMW Hit-and-Run: Key Accused Mihir Shah Arrested

In a significant development, Mumbai Police have apprehended Mihir Shah, the main accused in a tragic hit-and-run incident. Shah, the son of a prominent political leader, was allegedly behind the wheel of a BMW that fatally struck Kaveri Nakhwa and injured her husband Pradeep while they were riding their two-wheeler in the Worli area.

The arrest comes three days after the incident, which occurred early Sunday morning. Shah, 24, managed to evade authorities until he was captured near Virar, just outside Mumbai.

Following the accident, Mumbai police formed multiple teams and involved the Crime Branch to track down Shah. A lookout circular was also issued to prevent his escape. The investigation revealed that Shah drove the BMW from Kalanagar to Borivali after the incident.

Mihir Shah's father, a local political figure, played a role in facilitating his son's initial evasion. The elder Shah, along with Rajrishi Bidawat, another individual involved, appeared in court and faced judicial actions. Rajesh Shah was granted bail, while Bidawat remains in custody.

Further details from the probe indicate that the BMW, driven by Mihir Shah, dragged the victim, Kaveri Nakhwa, for a significant distance. Disturbing CCTV footage showed the car dragging her for 1.5 kilometers before she was run over a second time by Bidawat. After the vehicle stalled in Kalanagar, Shah contacted his father, who arrived on the scene and advised him to flee.

The ongoing investigation continues to uncover more about the incident and the actions taken by those involved.
