Anti-Human Trafficking Cell Cracks Down on Spa Centers: Irregularities Found and Fines Imposed
In a significant move to ensure compliance and curb unlawful practices, the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell conducted surprise raids on several spa centers in Haldwani on Sunday. The operation uncovered multiple irregularities, leading to penalties totaling ₹30,000 imposed on three establishments. The spa operators were sternly warned to adhere to the rules and regulations moving forward.
Under the direction of SSP P.N. Meena, the raids were spearheaded by Anti-Human Trafficking Cell In-Charge Manju Jyala. The surprise inspections targeted various spa centers across the city, aiming to identify and rectify violations.
During the operation, irregularities were noted at Lotus Spa, 7-Heaven Spa in the Haldwani Kotwali area, and New Sunlight Spa Center in Mukhani. Key issues included:
- Worker Verification: None of the employees at these establishments had undergone proper verification.
- Customer Records: The visitor registers lacked complete details of the clients, raising concerns about transparency and accountability.
These violations resulted in fines of ₹10,000 per establishment under Section 52(3)83 of the Police Act.
The spa operators were not only fined but also issued strict warnings to ensure immediate compliance with operational guidelines. Proper worker verification and maintaining accurate visitor records are essential not just for legal compliance but also for ensuring customer and staff safety.
The raids were conducted by a dedicated team that included Geeta Kothari, Mahendra Bhoj, Deepa Singh, and Indira Joshi, who worked meticulously to ensure a thorough inspection of the targeted locations.
This crackdown serves as a reminder to businesses to maintain transparency and follow all legal norms. The Anti-Human Trafficking Cell's proactive measures underscore the importance of keeping a close check on operations to prevent misuse and ensure safety.
With this action, authorities have sent a strong message to spa operators in Haldwani, signaling that non-compliance will not be tolerated. The community hopes this move will encourage stricter adherence to the law and set a precedent for maintaining professional and ethical standards in the industry.
