Tragic Discovery as Blind Hyderabad Couple Lives with Deceased Son for Days

Elderly Visually Impaired Parents Rescued After Living Unknowingly with Son's Body

In a heart-wrenching incident in Hyderabad, an elderly visually impaired couple was found living with the body of their deceased 30-year-old son for nearly four days, unaware of his passing. The discovery was made when neighbors in the Nagole area noticed a strong odor coming from the couple’s home and alerted authorities. When police arrived, they found the couple in a semi-conscious state, still attempting to communicate with their son, unaware that he had passed away days earlier.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the son, identified as Pramod, likely died in his sleep, and his parents, both over 60 years old, were unable to comprehend the situation due to their visual impairment and poor health. Unable to reach him for food and water, the couple’s weak calls went unheard by neighbors until the smell prompted action.

Police and Community Aid for the Elderly Couple Following Son’s Death

Upon the arrival of the police, the elderly couple was provided with food and water to aid in their recovery from apparent dehydration and malnutrition. Officers immediately notified their elder son, who resides in another part of Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Pramod’s body was transferred to a state-run hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

According to local authorities, Pramod had been struggling with alcoholism and had been living separately from his wife for over a year. His declining health and lifestyle challenges likely contributed to his untimely death. Police are continuing their investigation and have registered a case to uncover any additional details surrounding the tragic event.

Efforts to Support the Visually Impaired Couple and Prevent Future Tragedies

This incident has brought renewed attention to the challenges faced by elderly, disabled individuals who live independently. Officials are considering relocating the couple to an old-age home where they can receive consistent care and support. This tragic event has also prompted discussions on providing additional community support for elderly individuals, especially those with disabilities, to prevent similar incidents in the future.
