CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Directs Protective Works at Gaula River

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected the erosion caused by the Gaula River in Haldwani on Tuesday. During his visit, he instructed the irrigation department to commence channelization, wire crate installation, and other protective measures along a 500-meter stretch of the river.

Dhami also directed the District Magistrate of Nainital to develop a solid plan to protect the international stadium in Haldwani from erosion. He assured that any necessary financial approvals required at the state level would be provided promptly.

Monsoon Alert and Disaster Management

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of being on high alert during the monsoon season. He instructed all officials to stay in 24-hour alert mode to handle any potential disasters. Dhami stressed that construction projects should prioritize proper drainage plans to avoid jeopardizing other geographical and natural structures.

Immediate Action on Heavy Rainfall Reports

Dhami highlighted the responsibility of minimizing the impact of natural disasters. He urged all departments to continuously monitor essential services such as drinking water, electricity, road connectivity, and other basic facilities. Upon receiving any reports of heavy rainfall, teams should be dispatched immediately to provide relief and rescue operations.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the need for on-site distribution of relief materials and funds to the affected individuals during rescue operations.

DPR for Erosion Prevention Sent to Government

District Magistrate Vandana Singh informed that the irrigation department has submitted a detailed project report (DPR) worth ₹2.6 crore to the government for preventing erosion along a 200-meter stretch. Due to heavy rainfall, the erosion has now extended to approximately 600 meters. An additional DPR for the extra 400 meters is being prepared and will be sent to the government soon.

Officials Present During the Inspection

The inspection was attended by MLA Dr. Mohan Singh Bisht, Chairman of the Agricultural Production and Marketing Board Dr. Anil Kapoor Dabboo, Senior Superintendent of Police P.N. Meena, and other district-level officials.
