Dehradun Retired Principal Murdered in Chilling Crime Linked to Property Dispute
A shocking murder case has emerged from Dehradun, where a retired principal was allegedly killed by a couple from Roorkee, who then disposed of his body in Deoband, Saharanpur. While the prime suspects remain at large, two individuals who helped in disposing of the body have been arrested by the police. However, the cause of the murder remains unclear, as the authorities have yet to locate the body or determine the exact method of the crime.
The victim, 80-year-old Shyamlal, owned properties worth crores in Dehradun, and past attempts had been made to illegally seize his assets. This has led investigators to suspect that greed for his wealth may have been the motive behind the crime. To unravel the mystery, the police have secured a three-day custody remand of the arrested individuals.
Disappearance and Investigation
On February 7, a missing person report was filed by Shyamlal’s daughter, Nidhi Rathore, at Patel Nagar police station. She reported that her father had left their home in Peethawala, Chanderbani, on his bike but never returned. His phone was switched off, and despite searching among relatives, no trace of him was found.
During the investigation, the police discovered that just before leaving home, Shyamlal had spoken to a woman named Geeta on the phone. Call records revealed that they communicated multiple times after he left home, and their locations matched at the same place. CCTV footage showed him traveling towards Geeta’s rented house in Dehradun, but there was no footage of him returning home.
When police tried to locate Geeta and her husband, Himanshu Chaudhary, both were found missing, with their phones switched off. This raised further suspicion, prompting authorities to search for their whereabouts.
Shocking Confession and Body Disposal
As the investigation deepened, police detained Geeta’s brother, Ajay Kumar, in Deoband for questioning. Under pressure, he revealed that his sister and her husband had murdered Shyamlal. After the murder, Ajay and his associate, Dhanraj, helped dispose of the body in Deoband.
According to Ajay’s confession, Geeta called him on February 2, informing him about the murder and asking for help. On February 3, Ajay and Dhanraj arrived in Dehradun, where they packed Shyamlal’s body in a white plastic sack, tied it with ropes, and loaded it into a car along with household items and clothing bags.
To mislead investigators, they abandoned Shyamlal’s bike in an empty plot near ISBT, removed the number plate, and threw it in the garbage. They then drove to Deoband and dumped the body in a canal, along with the victim’s belongings. So far, police have been unable to recover either the body or the disposed items.
Ajay Kumar and Dhanraj have been remanded in custody for three days as police continue their search for Geeta and Himanshu.
The Unanswered Questions
While authorities have made significant progress, several critical questions remain unanswered:
- What was the exact reason behind the murder? Was it a dispute over property, or could there be a personal angle?
- How did the accused establish contact with the victim, and why did he visit them?
- What was the precise method of the murder?
- Where is the missing body, and will the police be able to recover it?
The case is being examined from multiple angles, including property disputes and possible deception. There is even speculation that Geeta may have gained the elderly man’s trust for ulterior motives.
A Connection to Land Disputes?
Shyamlal, a retired principal, owned substantial land holdings in Chanderbani and Pitthuwala. He was actively involved in farmers’ unions and only resigned from them a year ago. His landholdings had made him a target of land mafias, who had allegedly been trying to seize his assets for years. Some reports suggest that property dealers from Turner Road, in collaboration with land mafias from Saharanpur, had already sold portions of his land using fraudulent power of attorney documents.
As the police intensify their search for the prime suspects, the case continues to unfold, leaving Dehradun residents in shock. With crucial questions still unanswered, the investigation is expected to bring more startling revelations in the coming days.
