Chaos Outside College as Speeding Car Hits 10 Students in Selakui

What should have been an ordinary afternoon turned into a scene of panic and heartbreak in Selakui, where a speeding car struck ten students just outside a government college. The students, who were walking out after classes, never imagined that the road outside their campus would turn into a site of such devastation.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of the Dehradun-Paonta National Highway and Nigam Road. A car, reportedly coming from the highway, lost control while turning onto Nigam Road — a stretch often crowded with students and local traffic, especially around school dismissal hours.

The speeding vehicle veered off its path and plowed into a group of students near the gate of the Government Adarsh Inter College. Nine students were caught directly in its path, and the car also rammed into three other parked vehicles before coming to a halt.

Screams filled the air as bystanders rushed to help the injured. Police arrived at the scene shortly after and coordinated efforts to move the victims to nearby hospitals. Eight students were admitted to a hospital in Dhulkot, while another was taken to a facility in Jhajhra. Three of the injured students are in critical condition and continue to receive intensive medical care.

Authorities have confirmed that the driver of the car has been taken into custody. Initial reports suggest that the vehicle was being driven at an extremely high speed, which likely led to the loss of control.

Locals are now calling for stricter traffic regulation in the area, especially during school and college hours. Many residents feel that the lack of speed breakers and signage near educational institutions on this busy route has made it a danger zone for young pedestrians.

What was supposed to be just another day at school turned into a tragic reminder of how negligence on the road can change lives in seconds. The community now waits anxiously for updates on the condition of the injured students and hopes for swift justice.
