Chargesheet Filed Against 21 Accused in Former NCP Corporator Vanraj Andekar’s Murder Case
Pune police have officially submitted a 1,700-page chargesheet against 21 individuals in connection with the murder of former NCP corporator Vanraj Andekar. Among those named in the chargesheet is Andekar’s sister, Sanjivani Komkar, authorities confirmed on Friday.
Vanraj Andekar was shot dead around 9 pm on September 1, near his residence in the Nana Peth area of Pune city. Pune city police on Friday submitted a charge sheet against 21 accused persons arrested in connection with the murder of former PMC corporator Vanraj Andekar (40) of Nana Peth.
Andekar was brutally attacked on September 1 last year in Nana Peth, where a group of nine assailants assaulted him with sharp weapons and also opened fire. Investigators suspect the murder was driven by longstanding disputes related to personal conflicts, family issues, and property disagreements.
According to the police report, Sanjivani Komkar, along with Jayant Komkar and Ganesh Komkar, allegedly harbored resentment after their shop in Nana Peth was demolished as part of an anti-encroachment drive led by the Pune Municipal Corporation. Sanjivani Komkar believed that Andekar had played a role in initiating the civic action against their establishment.
Seeking retaliation, the Komkars allegedly conspired with Somnath Gaikwad and others to orchestrate Andekar’s murder. Authorities have compiled crucial evidence supporting these allegations and have presented them to the court as part of the extensive chargesheet.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate all aspects of the case, ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice. The case underscores the serious consequences of deep-rooted enmities and unresolved disputes escalating into violent crime. Further legal proceedings are expected as the court reviews the detailed findings submitted by the police.
