Another High-Speed Crash Near ONGC Chowk Leaves Five Injured
Dehradun's ONGC Chowk witnessed yet another terrifying accident today when a speeding car lost control and crashed into a divider before slamming into a tree. This incident comes just days after a tragic accident at the same location on November 12, which claimed the lives of six people.
The latest mishap occurred as a car, coming from Garhi Cantt towards ONGC Chowk, veered off course and crashed into a divider. The impact sent the vehicle hurtling into a tree, leaving five people injured. Among the injured are Neeraj Bora from Seemadwar, Bullet rider Harish Chamoli from Jodi Gaon, and three women—Pari, Ananya, and Latika from Vijay Park. All victims were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
Driver Blames Accelerator Instead of Brakes
Police have taken the driver, Neeraj Bora, into custody and are conducting a medical examination. According to Inspector KC Bhatt of Cantt Kotwali, Bora claimed that instead of pressing the brakes, his foot accidentally hit the accelerator, causing the vehicle to pick up uncontrollable speed. Eyewitnesses at the scene, however, alleged that the driver might have been under the influence of alcohol. To verify this, authorities have sent him for medical testing.
Bullet Rider Severely Injured in the Impact
The collision took another turn when a Bullet rider traveling from the opposite direction collided with the out-of-control car, suffering serious injuries. The force of the crash was so severe that the car’s tire burst upon impact with the tree, leaving both the vehicle and the Bullet completely wrecked.
This incident has once again raised concerns over reckless driving in the area. Residents and passersby at the scene have urged authorities to take strict measures to prevent such accidents in the future. Meanwhile, the police are investigating whether the driver was indeed intoxicated or if it was purely a case of losing control.
With back-to-back accidents at ONGC Chowk, the question remains—how many more crashes before stricter traffic regulations are enforced?
