New Power Station Brings Relief for Haldwani Residents Facing Voltage Fluctuations

Residents of Haldwani have long struggled with erratic power supply, especially during the peak summer months. This recurring issue of low voltage and frequent faults is now being addressed with the construction of a new power station. To tackle Haldwani's electricity woes, the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) is setting up a new power station within the ITI campus at Dahariya. This ₹20 crore initiative will be a game changer for neighborhoods that experience frequent low-voltage problems and overload issues.

Locations Covered: The new power station is set to serve areas previously dependent on Kamaluwa Ganja and Teepinagar power stations, where voltage fluctuations are common. The connected regions, including Kusumkhera, Unchapul, Khadia Factory, Mukhani, Peelikothi, Judge Farm, Dahariya, and Rampur Road, will experience improved power stability.

Load Management: Overloaded substations at Kamaluwa Ganja and Teepinagar supply electricity to 46,000 and 13,000 consumers, respectively. The new facility will reduce pressure on these stations, creating a more reliable grid for the city's residents. Seven new feeders are planned for optimized distribution.

Technology and Capacity: The Dahariya power station will house two 12.5 MVA transformers, capable of serving over 10,000 consumers with enhanced voltage stability. Built on 508 square meters, the station aims to be operational before the summer peak hits, ensuring uninterrupted power when residents need it the most.

Along with easing the current load, this project opens up the possibility of additional connections from other high-demand areas like Hiranagar on Kaladhungi Road.
