Haldwani's New Bus Terminal and Administrative Complex Set for Construction Soon
Project to Start in Three Months with Green Light for Budget Approval
After extensive planning and approvals, the much-anticipated Haldwani bus terminal and multipurpose administrative complex are set to break ground within the next three to four months. This major infrastructure project, spearheaded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), has received budgetary approval and is expected to bring transformative facilities to the city.
A detailed project report (DPR) proposing a budget of ₹336 crore was recently submitted by the Uttarakhand Urban Sector Development Agency (UUSDA) for this expansive project. While the budget has been approved, officials are awaiting a key Technical Steering Committee (TSC) meeting, which will serve as the final checkpoint before moving forward. Following the TSC meeting, the project can advance to the tendering stage, projected to take an additional three to four months.
Relocation Plans and Temporary Bus Stand Setup
The plan includes relocating the existing bus station to make way for the new construction. Proposals for the temporary relocation of bus services have already been submitted to the Transport Corporation’s headquarters and are under review. This interim bus station will facilitate uninterrupted travel services for Haldwani residents and visitors alike, ensuring smooth operations as construction progresses.
Anticipated Impact on Haldwani’s Infrastructure
Once construction begins, the bus terminal and administrative complex will require approximately six months to complete. This development aims to not only modernize Haldwani’s transport infrastructure but also improve administrative service delivery. With additional amenities and modernized facilities, it is anticipated to reduce congestion and streamline local transport.
As the project moves forward, the TSC’s forthcoming meeting and the subsequent tendering process are critical. Haldwani is on the brink of a new chapter in public service and transportation, aiming to enhance connectivity, improve administrative accessibility, and contribute to the city’s urban growth.
