Pune, October 25, 2024: A tragic motorcycle accident in Erandwane resulted in the death of a 17-year-old underage motorcyclist and injuries to two pedestrians. The incident involved Yash Kamlesh Dahiwal, a young college student and resident of Sinhagad Road, who lost control of his high-speed Royal Enfield Bullet, ultimately colliding with a divider and injuring a senior citizen and a fellow youth.

Accident Details and Timeline

The accident occurred yesterday at around 4:50 PM on Appasaheb Kulkarni Path. According to local authorities, Yash was returning home when he lost control of his speeding motorcycle, striking a divider and crashing into two pedestrians. The victims have been identified as 86-year-old Shrikant Dattatraya Datar from Karve Nagar and 18-year-old Jayaraj Rajesh Hulge from Sinhagad Road. Tragically, Yash sustained severe head injuries and, despite prompt medical attention, succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital. Both pedestrians also received medical treatment and are currently recovering from their injuries.

Police Presence and Ongoing Investigation

Following the incident, Senior Police Inspector Sunita Rokade and Police Inspector (Crime) Surekha Chavan arrived at the scene, joining Police Constable Ramdas Gore, who had initially reported the accident to Alankar Police Station. The case is being investigated by Police Sub-Inspector Dixit, who is collecting evidence and statements to understand the accident’s cause. Police are examining whether additional factors, such as road conditions or vehicle speed, contributed to the tragic event.
