Petrol Pump Manager Injured in Robbery Attempt in Gokul Puri, Two Arrested
In a shocking robbery attempt in northeast Delhi’s Gokul Puri, a petrol pump manager was shot and injured while on his way to deposit cash at a nearby bank. The incident, which took place on Monday morning, has resulted in the arrest of two suspects, with a third person still at large. The police are actively investigating the case to bring all involved to justice.
Robbery at Petrol Pump Leads to Firing
According to the police, a distress call was made to the Police Control Room (PCR) at 10:36 a.m. on Monday, alerting authorities to a firing incident at a petrol pump in Gokul Puri. When the police team arrived at the scene, they found that the petrol pump manager, 48-year-old Ravinder Pal Singh, had already been rushed to the GTB Hospital. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his left arm during an attempted robbery.
Details of the Attack
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast), Rakesh Paweriya, provided further details, stating that Singh was heading to deposit cash at a nearby bank along with a colleague when the robbery took place. Two men on a motorcycle stopped them near the petrol pump and attempted to snatch the cash bag. Singh resisted their efforts, leading one of the assailants to fire a shot, which struck him in the left arm.
Despite his injury, Singh is currently receiving medical treatment and is expected to recover. His brave resistance, however, did not stop the robbers from fleeing the scene. Fortunately, a swift police response has led to key developments in the case.
Two Suspects Arrested
On Tuesday, police apprehended two suspects involved in the robbery attempt. The accused have been identified as Satender alias Baba (45) and Rahul Kashyap (39). Both individuals have a history of serious criminal offenses, including charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), as well as involvement in cases of murder, robbery, theft, and violations of the Arms Act. Their extensive criminal records highlight the dangerous nature of the suspects.
The arrests were made possible after police teams meticulously reviewed CCTV footage from the area. The footage helped trace the suspects’ movements, eventually leading to their capture.
Insider Involvement and Ongoing Investigation
In a significant twist, the police revealed that an individual who had previously worked at the petrol pump had informed the accused about the cash deposit, which may have led to the premeditated robbery attempt. This insider involvement has added a new layer to the investigation, with authorities now focusing on locating and arresting the third individual involved in the crime.
Police teams are conducting multiple raids in an effort to bring the remaining suspect to justice. The investigation is still underway, and further details are expected to emerge as authorities piece together more information about the planning and execution of the robbery attempt.
Rising Concerns Over Robbery and Violence in Delhi
This violent incident has raised concerns among the local community about rising cases of armed robbery and criminal activity in the area. While the swift action by law enforcement has provided some reassurance, the involvement of individuals with a history of organized crime has left many residents worried about the safety of their neighborhoods.
The bravery displayed by Ravinder Pal Singh in resisting the robbers is commendable, but the incident also serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by employees handling large sums of cash in public spaces. Authorities are expected to increase security measures at sensitive locations like petrol pumps and banks to prevent such incidents in the future.
The arrests of Satender and Rahul Kashyap bring some hope for justice, but the ongoing search for the third accused continues as police work tirelessly to solve the case and ensure safety in the community.
