Shankarapalli IBS student Himank Bansal beaten up and forced to chant Allah-hu-Akbar in college hostel

In a shocking incident at the Shankarapalli IBS campus, a Hindu law student named Himank Bansal was brutally assaulted and coerced into chanting "Allah Hu Akbar" by a group of individuals identifying as Muslims. The attack has raised serious concerns about safety and communal harmony on campus, prompting calls for swift justice.

Bansal, who has taken a courageous step in the face of violence, filed a detailed complaint with the local police, outlining the events leading up to the attack. According to the complaint, the altercation began when Dipasha Sharma, with whom Bansal had been conversing on Instagram, allegedly disclosed his private messages to a group of Muslim students. This betrayal led to a mob gathering in Bansal's room, where he was subjected to a severe beating.

In response to the incident, the Cyber Police of Hyderabad issued a statement via Twitter, confirming that a case had been registered on November 11, 2022, by the Shankarpally Police Station against the assailants. The charges include provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for attempted murder (307), wrongful confinement (342), house trespass (450), causing hurt (323), criminal intimidation (506), and rioting (R/W 149). Furthermore, the accused have been charged under Sections 4(I), (II), and (III) of the Prohibition of Raising Act of 2011.

This incident has sparked widespread outrage, highlighting issues of religious intolerance and the urgent need for safeguarding students' rights and dignity on educational campuses. As investigations continue, many are calling for stricter measures to ensure the safety of all students, regardless of their religious background.

The disturbing nature of this attack raises broader questions about campus culture and the responsibilities of educational institutions in fostering an environment of respect and tolerance. Students and faculty alike are demanding accountability and action to prevent such incidents from happening in the future, emphasizing the importance of unity in diversity within academic settings.

As authorities pursue justice for Himank Bansal, the incident serves as a crucial reminder of the need for dialogue and understanding among different communities, urging everyone to stand against violence and discrimination in any form. The commitment to uphold the values of education and mutual respect remains paramount as the investigation unfolds.
