Dehradun Police Rescue Three Minors from Human Trafficking Racket, Two Suspects Arrested

In a significant operation, the Dehradun police have rescued three minors from an alleged human trafficking ring in the Pathri Bagh area and arrested two individuals, including a woman. The accused were attempting to sell the minors for Rs 11 lakh when police intervened, foiling the illicit trade.

The rescue operation began when the police received a tip-off about the suspicious presence of the girls at Dehradun's Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT). Upon questioning, the minors disclosed that they had been brought to Dehradun with false promises of employment and money. They also overheard the traffickers discussing their sale, prompting them to plan an escape.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh, who led the operation, said, "We immediately took action after receiving information about three suspicious minors at ISBT. Our team moved swiftly, and this led to the arrest of two individuals – Bala, a divorced woman, and Digvijay Singh from Amroha – from Ved City Colony in Pathri Bagh."

According to police investigations, the arrested suspects revealed that they had 'purchased' the minors from two women, identified as Poonam and Khushi, in Ghaziabad. The traffickers intended to sell the minors in Dehradun for Rs 11 lakh. Raids are currently being conducted to apprehend the remaining members of the trafficking network.

SSP Ajay Singh further explained that during the investigation, it was uncovered that both arrested suspects have extensive criminal backgrounds. "Our probe revealed a disturbing history of criminal offenses linked to the accused, including charges of murder, loot, human trafficking, violations under the Arms Act, and the Gangster Act, with cases spread across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand," he said. Both suspects had previously been jailed for similar offences, including human trafficking, adding to their long list of crimes.

The police have intensified efforts to locate and apprehend other members of the trafficking ring. "We are committed to ensuring that every individual involved in this heinous crime is brought to justice," SSP Singh affirmed.

The operation, a coordinated effort between Patel Nagar police station and the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, marks a critical step in combating human trafficking in the region. The arrests have sent a strong message about the ongoing efforts to dismantle trafficking networks and protect vulnerable individuals from such criminal activities.
