Woman Killed in Rosemoor Shooting and Crash Saturday Morning
A woman was killed and a man was seriously injured after a shooting led to a vehicle crash on the South Side of Chicago on Saturday morning, according to Chicago police.
Police said the incident occurred just before 8:30 a.m. in the Rosemoor neighborhood, in the 200-block of East 103rd Street. A 22-year-old woman was driving a dark blue Honda SUV westbound when another vehicle pulled up alongside. Someone inside the other vehicle fired shots, police reported.
Vehicle Crash Follows Gunfire
After the shots were fired, both vehicles continued traveling, police said. The dark blue Honda SUV then struck a tree. According to police, the driver of the other vehicle sped away from the scene. No additional details about the fleeing vehicle or its occupants were provided by authorities.
Police stated that the 22-year-old woman suffered injuries from the crash. She was transported to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Officials did not release her name.
Passenger Seriously Injured, No Arrests Reported
A 28-year-old man who was a passenger in the SUV sustained bruises and other crash-related injuries, according to police. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition. No other injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
Police said no one is currently in custody in relation to the shooting and subsequent crash. Area Two detectives are investigating. Authorities stated that they did not immediately provide further information about the circumstances of the shooting, the number of shots fired, or potential suspects.
The investigation into the fatal incident in the Rosemoor neighborhood on East 103rd Street remains ongoing under the direction of Area Two detectives, police said.
