Tragic Incident: Three-Year-Old Boy Dies Allegedly Due to Assaults by Mother's Partner

A three-year-old boy from Bengaluru, Ashwin, tragically lost his life after allegedly being assaulted by his mother's partner, Micheal Raj. Raj, a 30-year-old resident of Bommanahalli, has been taken into custody by the police.

Incident Details

Ashwin, a resident of Virat Nagar, NGR Layout in Roopena Agrahara, was allegedly assaulted twice on July 6. He passed away two days later at a hospital. Authorities report that Raj believed the child was obstructing his relationship with Ashwin's mother, Ramya Kumari.

Background

Ramya Kumari had previously been married to her elder sister’s husband, Satish, with whom she had two children—a five-year-old daughter and Ashwin. Due to marital issues, Ramya separated from Satish and moved back to her parental home. Raj, a father of two who owned a garage opposite Ramya’s home, began an affair with her about a year ago. They subsequently rented an apartment together in NGR Layout.

The Assault

On the evening of July 6, while Ramya was out, she returned to find bruises on Ashwin’s face. Raj admitted to slapping the child. Later that night, after Ashwin ate food off the floor, Raj allegedly slapped him again. The boy soon developed epileptic symptoms, prompting Ramya and Raj to take him to a hospital. Ashwin was moved to NIMHANS on July 7 but succumbed to his injuries on July 8.

Legal Action

Ramya informed the police that Raj had also struck Ashwin’s head against a wall. Raj has been charged under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder.

This heartbreaking incident highlights the urgent need for vigilance and protection of vulnerable children in domestic environments.
