Tragic Incident in Rishikesh: Brother-in-Law Follows Sister-in-Law in Ganga Plunge

Rishikesh witnessed a heartbreaking sequence of events as a young man jumped into the Ganga at 72 Seedi Ghat, just two days after his sister-in-law took a similar leap from the same location. Authorities are still searching for both individuals, while the motive behind their drastic actions remains unknown.

Man Jumps into Ganga, Leaving Belongings Behind

On Thursday evening, around 4 PM, a young man arrived at 72 Seedi Ghat and was seen walking near the riverbank. After spending some time at the site, he suddenly jumped into the river. The people present at the location immediately informed the police.

Upon reaching the scene, authorities recovered a jacket, shoes, a cap, and a mobile phone from the riverbank. These belongings helped identify the individual as Rajan, a resident of Aam Bagh, Rishikesh. Efforts are currently underway to locate him in the river.

Two Days Earlier, Sister-in-Law Had Jumped from the Same Spot

Further investigations revealed a shocking connection between this incident and an event that took place two days prior. On February 18, a woman had also jumped into the Ganga from the same location. Initially, her identity was unknown, but she was later recognized as 36-year-old Soni, also a resident of Aam Bagh.

Authorities have confirmed that Rajan and Soni were related, with Soni being Rajan’s sister-in-law. The circumstances leading to their consecutive leaps into the river remain unclear. The police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the factors that may have driven them to take such an extreme step.

Teams are actively searching the river for both individuals, with rescue operations being carried out to locate them. Officials are also speaking to family members and neighbors to gather information about any possible reasons behind their actions.
