Autopsy Report Reveals Truth Behind 20-Year-Old Sahana’s Tragic Death in Hebbagodi
The mystery surrounding the tragic death of 20-year-old Sahana in Hebbagodi has now been clarified. According to the autopsy report, she drowned after the motorcycle she was riding as a pillion passenger with her father veered into a lake.
Initially, suspicions arose when a friend of Sahana suggested that her death might be a case of honor killing, as her father had strongly opposed her plans to marry someone from a different caste. However, authorities chose to withhold judgment until forensic findings were available. “With the autopsy report confirming drowning, it appears to be an accident,” police officials stated.
What Led to the Incident?
On Wednesday afternoon, Sahana and her father, Ramamurthy, were on their way home to Huskur from Harohalli when the incident occurred. Ramamurthy claimed that he suddenly felt dizzy, lost control of the motorcycle, and accidentally plunged into the lake.
While both father and daughter struggled in the water, Ramamurthy managed to swim to shore and rushed to the Hebbagodi police station for help. Unfortunately, by the time authorities arrived at the scene, Sahana had drowned. Her body was recovered shortly after. Sahana, who worked for a private company, was the elder daughter of Ramamurthy.
Conflicting Claims and Investigations
Although Ramamurthy maintained that the incident was a tragic accident, conflicting narratives emerged. The lake, located just one kilometer from their home and two kilometers from the police station, is accessible by a clear, straight road devoid of potholes or significant obstacles.
During questioning, Ramamurthy admitted to the police that he had been extremely distressed over Sahana’s relationship and had not slept the previous night. He stated that exhaustion caused him to doze off while riding, leading to the mishap. Based on his statement, authorities registered a case under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for causing death by negligence.
However, Sahana’s boyfriend, Nitin, a private company employee, strongly refuted Ramamurthy’s claims. He alleged that her father had deliberately pushed her into the lake to prevent their inter-caste marriage.
Accusations of Foul Play
Nitin disclosed that he and Sahana had been in a relationship for over a year, but her family strongly opposed their union. A day before the incident, Ramamurthy allegedly summoned Nitin to a meeting at a friend’s house, where Sahana and her mother were also present. When Nitin and Sahana reiterated their intention to marry, Ramamurthy reacted angrily and firmly rejected their decision.
"Now everything makes sense—he pushed Sahana into the lake and is trying to cover it up as an accident," Nitin alleged.
Authorities confirmed recovering the motorcycle from the lake and acknowledged Nitin’s claim that Sahana may have been physically assaulted before her death. However, a preliminary examination revealed no visible injuries on her body.
“We are not making any premature conclusions. The forensic report will provide further clarity on the exact cause of death,” an investigating officer stated.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities continue to examine all angles, ensuring that justice prevails in this tragic case.
