DigiYatra Service Now Available at Pune Airport’s New Terminal
Passengers at Pune Airport can now experience a seamless travel process with the launch of the DigiYatra service at the newly operational New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB). The advanced system, which utilizes facial recognition technology to verify passenger identities, was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol on Saturday.
Enhanced Passenger Experience with DigiYatra
Previously available only at the old terminal, DigiYatra eliminates the need for manual document verification, allowing passengers to move through security checkpoints effortlessly. Mohol highlighted that this digital initiative will improve efficiency, reduce waiting times, and enhance overall passenger convenience at the airport.
Future Plans for Pune Airport’s Old Terminal
With nearly 80% of domestic and international flights now operating from the NITB, plans are underway to demolish the old terminal in the coming months. Authorities are exploring redevelopment strategies to transform the space into a modern, upgraded facility that aligns with the new terminal’s advanced infrastructure.
A Look at Pune Airport’s New Terminal
Unveiled in March 2024, Pune Airport’s 22,000-square-meter terminal is designed to accommodate up to 10 million passengers annually. The facility features state-of-the-art amenities, advanced security systems, and a streamlined check-in process, making air travel more efficient for passengers.
New Commercial Lounge for Enhanced Comfort
In addition to DigiYatra, a new commercial lounge has also been introduced, offering travelers superior comfort, upgraded seating, and improved dining options. According to airport officials, this addition aims to elevate the passenger experience by providing premium services within the terminal.
With these developments, Pune Airport continues to evolve into a modern aviation hub, integrating technology-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and passenger satisfaction.
