Daughter of Ex-MLA Bhima Mandavi Allegedly Dies by Suicide

In a deeply saddening incident, the daughter of former Chhattisgarh MLA Bhima Mandavi was found dead in a paying guest (PG) hostel in Dehradun on Sunday. Officials have reported the incident as an alleged case of suicide. The family, devastated by the news, rushed to Dehradun to collect the body after being informed.

The deceased's mother, Ojasvi Bhima Mandavi, who is also a member of the Chhattisgarh Women's Commission, expressed her grief while speaking to reporters. “The incident happened in Dehradun. We immediately left for Dehradun as soon as we heard the news. We will be able to share details only after reaching there,” she said.

The young woman was a third-year student pursuing a Physiotherapy Nursing course at Sai Institute in Dehradun. According to sources, she had recently visited her hometown in Dantewada before returning to Dehradun. Previously staying with friends, she had moved to the PG hostel just a week before the tragic incident.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also expressed his condolences on social media. In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, "The sudden demise of Deepa Mandavi, daughter of former MLA Bhima Mandavi and State Women’s Commission member Ojasvi Mandavi, is deeply saddening. I spoke to Ojasviji and offered my condolences on this tragic loss. I pray for the departed soul’s peace and strength for the grieving family. Om Shanti!"

This tragedy is another heartbreaking chapter for the Mandavi family, who have already endured a significant loss. Former BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi was assassinated by Naxalites on April 9, 2019, while campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections. In that devastating attack in Kuankonda, five security personnel also lost their lives.

As the family grapples with this profound loss, the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and the challenges faced by students living away from home. If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out for help. Mental health support is available, and no one has to face their struggles alone.
