In a dramatic rescue operation, Pune Police have successfully saved a Tamil Nadu man who was kidnapped en route to Mumbai, uncovering a sinister plot rooted in financial disputes. The meticulous operation led to the arrest of six individuals allegedly involved in the crime.

The victim, a 35-year-old from Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, embarked on a journey to Mumbai on January 6. However, just days later, on January 9, he managed to contact his family, revealing a terrifying ordeal. He had been abducted, subjected to brutal beatings, and held captive in a hotel. The phone call set off a rapid response by Pune Police’s Crime Branch, culminating in a tense and successful rescue.

The Rescue Mission

The Anti Dacoity Cell and Vehicle Theft 2 unit of Pune Police launched an exhaustive search operation across areas like Phursungi, Kunjirwadi, Shewalwadi, and Shikrapur Nagar Road. Acting on crucial intelligence, the team pinpointed the victim's location and successfully freed him on January 10. Along with the rescue, all six accused individuals were apprehended.

Arrests and Details of the Accused

The arrested suspects include Mohammad Farman Meherbad (27) and Arjun Kumar Shiv Kumar (28), both from Uttar Pradesh; Devendra Sunil Albhar (25) from Ahilyanagar; Ankit Arjun Adagale (25) from Mumbai; Priyank Devendra Rana (33) from Uttarakhand; and Avinash Dattatraya Kadam (43) from Shikrapur.

A case has been registered against the accused under charges of wrongful confinement, voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, and acting with common intention. The motive behind the crime was traced to an unresolved financial transaction between the parties.

The victim’s call provided critical information to the police, initiating a race against time. Officers worked tirelessly to track the suspects and ensure the victim's safety. Their search involved thorough reconnaissance and coordination, eventually leading to the dramatic recovery of the victim.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingle and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 2) Rajendra Mulik provided additional oversight.

Key officers leading the rescue included Police Inspectors Vijay Kumbhar, Sandeepan Pawar, Yuvraj Hande, and Wahid Pathan, whose dedicated efforts ensured the operation's success.
