Cold Wave Hits Pune: Haveli Freezes at 8°C, Shivajinagar at 9.6°C

The much-awaited winter season is making its presence felt in Pune as temperatures in Shivajinagar dropped to 9.6°C on January 4, marking a return to single-digit lows after 15 days. Other areas in the region also recorded chilly conditions, with Talegaon at 9.8°C, Baramati and Shirur at 9.2°C, NDA at 8.7°C, and Haveli experiencing the coldest at 8°C.

According to meteorologist KS Hosalikar, the drop in temperatures is due to the influence of northerly winds originating from the Western Himalayas. These winds have brought cooler weather to Pune and surrounding areas, much to the delight of winter enthusiasts.

Pune experienced a significant dip in temperature, with Shivajinagar registering 9.6°C, signaling the return of winter vibes. Meteorologist KS Hosalikar attributed the cold wave to the strong northerly winds from the Western Himalayas, which have swept through the region.

Residents in Talegaon, Baramati, Shirur, NDA, and Haveli also woke up to chilly mornings, with temperatures as low as 8°C in Haveli. Social media platforms buzzed with updates as Punekars celebrated the much-awaited arrival of the winter chill.

The city of Pune is experiencing a cold wave, with Shivajinagar recording 9.6°C, its first single-digit temperature in over two weeks. Nearby areas such as Talegaon and Baramati also reported lows of 9.8°C and 9.2°C, respectively. Meteorologists credit the dip to chilly winds from the Himalayas.

The winter chill is back in Pune as temperatures plunged to single digits in Shivajinagar and surrounding areas. The lowest reading was recorded in Haveli at 8°C. Experts link the sudden dip to Himalayan winds.
