Tragic End to a Late-Night Drive Claims Lives of Two Trainee Pilots
What began as a casual night among friends ended in an unimaginable tragedy as two young trainee pilots lost their lives in a car crash near Indapur in Maharashtra's Pune district. The heart-wrenching accident, which also left two others critically injured, occurred in the early hours of Monday on the Baramati-Bhigwan road near Lamjewadi, shaking the aviation community and their families.
Aditya Kanase from Mumbai and Takshu Sharma from Delhi, both just 21 years old, were pronounced dead at the scene. The injured, including 21-year-old driver Krishna Ishu Singh from Bihar and Chesta Bishnoi from Rajasthan, are currently receiving medical care. Bishnoi’s condition remains critical, with doctors battling to save her life.
The four, all students of the prestigious Red Bird Aviation Academy in Baramati, had spent the evening in their room, enjoying a small gathering. According to police reports, alcohol was consumed before they decided to venture out for a drive in their SUV post-dinner. Around 3:15 a.m., their journey took a devastating turn as the vehicle sped along the Baramati-Bhigwan road. At a sharp bend near Lamjewadi, the driver lost control. The SUV skidded off the road, slamming into a tree before coming to a halt against a concrete pipeline.
The impact was catastrophic, instantly claiming the lives of Kanase and Sharma. Emergency responders rushed Singh and Bishnoi to a nearby private hospital in Bhigwan, where they are receiving treatment. The shocking accident has left their families and friends grappling with the loss of promising young lives.
Sudarshan Rathord, Deputy Superintendent of Police from Baramati division, shared details of the incident, emphasizing the role of high speed and impaired judgment due to alcohol consumption. Preliminary investigations confirmed that the group had been drinking before embarking on their ill-fated drive.
The tragic crash serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drinking and driving, compounded by reckless speed. While police continue their investigation, the community mourns the loss of these bright, ambitious individuals whose dreams of soaring in the skies were cut short far too soon.
