Real Estate Agent in Pune’s Haveli Area Fatally Attacked Over Loan Dispute

In a shocking turn of events, Pune rural police arrested four individuals accused of brutally murdering a real estate agent, Satish Sudam Thopte, in broad daylight over a financial dispute. The chilling incident unfolded on November 27 in the Haveli area of Pune district, leaving the community shaken.

The victim, Satish Thopte, a 37-year-old resident of Kolhewadi, lost his life to a violent attack orchestrated by Bhausaheb Sadashiv Kiwale, a resident of Dhayari Phata. Acting on Kiwale's instructions, the assailants, identified as Jivan alias Bala Shailesh Jagtap (27), Akshay alias Babu Babaji Shelar (24), Sohel alias Fukya Sajidali Jora (19), and Devidas alias Deva Laxman Tambat (20), carried out the crime using a koyta (a sharp weapon).

The roots of this tragic case trace back six months, when Kiwale coerced Thopte into mortgaging his flat to secure a ₹18.50 lakh loan. Thopte handed over the money to Kiwale under the agreement that Kiwale would repay the loan installments. However, tensions rose when Kiwale failed to fulfill his financial obligations.

Frustrated and betrayed, Thopte publicly expressed his anger through a status update on social media, calling out Kiwale's behavior. This public rebuke enraged Kiwale, prompting him to plot Thopte’s elimination. The plan culminated in a brazen attack on November 27, where Thopte was assaulted in the middle of the day, leaving him fatally injured.

Police inspector Sachin Wangde of the Haveli Police Station revealed that meticulous detective work, including the analysis of CCTV footage, led to the identification of one of the accused, Devidas Tambat. Further investigations uncovered the movements of the perpetrators, who were intercepted at Khed Shivapur before they could escape to Kolhapur.

While the four individuals have been apprehended, the search for the mastermind, Kiwale, is ongoing. Authorities are committed to ensuring justice is served for the victim’s family.

The case has been registered at the Haveli Police Station under multiple sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita, including sections 103(1), 61(2), 352(2), 3(5), and relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

This incident underscores the devastating consequences of financial disputes and the dangers of letting conflicts spiral into violence. As the community mourns the loss of Satish Thopte, the hunt for the main accused continues, with law enforcement leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice.
