Dehradun Tragedy as Truck Collides with Innova, Killing Six College Students Near ONGC Intersection
A tragic accident claimed the lives of six students in Uttarakhand’s capital, Dehradun, following a severe collision between a truck and an Innova car. The accident occurred at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday near the ONGC intersection, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
According to initial reports, the Innova was carrying seven students when it was struck with tremendous force by a truck. The impact of the collision was so devastating that the car was shattered, making it extremely challenging for rescuers to retrieve the bodies and the injured. Tragically, six of the students, three boys and three girls, died on the spot, while the seventh student sustained critical injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital. The students, all of whom attended a private college, were reportedly from Delhi and Himachal Pradesh, studying in Dehradun.
Emergency responders had to cut through the wreckage to reach the victims, who were trapped inside the mangled car. The horrific nature of the crash left the bodies severely damaged, and the authorities described the scene as heart-wrenching. Following the accident, the truck driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, prompting a search by law enforcement.
Upon receiving the distress call, police teams arrived swiftly, working to recover the bodies from the wrecked vehicle. Five of the deceased students were transported to Doon Hospital, while one body was taken to Mahant Indresh Hospital. The sole survivor, Siddhesh Agarwal, a resident of Dehradun, is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.
The victims were identified as Guneet (19), Kamakshi (20), Navya Goyal (23), Rishabh Jain (24), Kunal Kukreja (23), and Atul Agarwal (24). Following the incident, a senior police officer visited the hospital to coordinate the proceedings and extend support to the families.
As investigations continue, authorities are examining the circumstances that led to this tragic collision and are working to apprehend the driver of the truck. The police have vowed to pursue a thorough investigation, as the incident has raised concerns about road safety and the enforcement of traffic regulations in the area.
