Investigations revealed that Nagarathna was in a relationship with her close relative, Ramu, who also became a suspect in the case. According to authorities, her husband, 30-year-old Thippesh, discovered the affair, leading to a confrontation with Nagarathna. Together, they allegedly conspired to eliminate Thippesh, envisioning a future without obstacles.
