The UT Tourism Department has officially announced the dates for the much-anticipated annual Chandigarh Carnival, set to take place from October 25 to October 27, 2024. This year’s theme, ‘Wonderland,’ promises an exciting and vibrant celebration for residents and visitors alike.

The Carnival will kick off with a grand inauguration at 12 noon on October 25, followed by a colorful parade featuring stunning tableaux crafted by students from the Government College of Arts in Chandigarh. This artistic display will be a highlight of the event, showcasing the creativity and talent of local students.

The entertainment lineup is impressive, starting with a live performance by renowned singer Satinder Sartaaj on the inaugural day. He will take the stage at the open ground opposite the Museum and Art Gallery at 7 PM, setting the tone for an unforgettable weekend. On October 26, the excitement continues with a live show by Fero Fluid, also at 7 PM in the same location. The carnival will close on a high note with a captivating performance by singer Mohammad Irfan, ensuring that the audience leaves with lasting memories.

In addition to musical performances, the Chandigarh Carnival will feature a range of engaging activities for all ages. Art workshops, exhibitions by eminent artists, and photography displays will take place daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, providing ample opportunities for visitors to immerse themselves in the creative arts. A special exhibition titled “Chandigarh Down The Memory Lane” will showcase vintage photographs of the city, offering a nostalgic glimpse into its past.

Children will also have plenty of entertainment options, with various activities designed specifically for them. A standout feature of this year’s carnival will be a performance by ‘Flowing Karma,’ India’s first band on wheels, adding a unique flair to the festivities.

On the final day of the carnival, October 27, a special 5-km women’s cycle rally themed ‘Saree and Sustainability’ will be flagged off at 7 AM, promoting both fitness and environmental awareness. Additionally, a friendly cricket match involving specially-abled sportspersons will highlight the spirit of inclusivity and community engagement.

This year’s Chandigarh Carnival is set to be a celebration of culture, creativity, and community spirit, making it an event not to be missed. With a wide array of activities, performances, and exhibitions planned, the carnival offers something for everyone.
