CBI Launches Investigation Against IPS Officer Bhagyashree Navtake for Alleged Misconduct in BHR Scam Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated a new case against IPS officer Bhagyashree Navtake, alleging significant irregularities in her handling of the BHR Scam investigation in Jalgaon. Navtake, previously serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in the Economic Offenses Wing (EoW) of Pune City Police, is accused of mishandling a complex case involving fraudulent activities against members of a credit institution, reportedly in collusion with the liquidator of BHR and other associates.

The investigation into the BHR Scam first emerged during the tenure of the Mahavikas Aghadi government, with initial cases registered at various police stations, including Deccan Police Station, Alandi, and Pimpri-Chinchwad. As the gravity of the situation unfolded, the case was transferred to the EoW, where Navtake led a series of high-profile raids across Jalgaon. These operations attracted attention, particularly due to the involvement of women police officers executing simultaneous searches at multiple locations.

A detailed report from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was subsequently submitted to the state home department, prompting the Pune police to formally register a case. The current Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Nikhil Pingle, filed a complaint at Bundgarden Police Station, holding Navtake accountable for her actions during the investigation.

In a significant development, the Maharashtra state government decided to transfer the investigation to the CBI, citing the complexities and potential irregularities involved. The CBI has now officially registered a case against Navtake, charging her with cheating and criminal conspiracy.
