Out of the eight, five students jumped into the canal to bathe, but the swift current quickly overwhelmed them. While one managed to swim back to safety, the other four were swept away, unable to withstand the strong water flow.

The students who were caught in the dangerous situation include Mandeep Avinash Patil (Class 11), Anant Yogesh Sambre (Class 7), Mayank Kunal Meshram (Class 8), and Mayur Khushal Bangre (Class 9). Their disappearance triggered a massive rescue operation that is still underway.
