Chilling Confession in Mahalakshmi Murder Case: 'She Tried to Kill Me First
In a gruesome turn of events in the Mahalakshmi murder case, a death note left behind by the accused reveals shocking details. The accused, who later died by suicide, confessed in the note that he killed his partner in self-defense, claiming that if he hadn't acted, she would have murdered him first. The chilling note, recovered by the police, reads: "If I had not killed her, Mahalakshmi would have killed me and stuffed my body in a suitcase."
Mahalakshmi, a 29-year-old saleswoman from Bengaluru, was found brutally murdered, with her body cut into over 30 pieces and stored in a refrigerator. The accused, identified as 31-year-old Muktiranjan Pratap Ray, confessed in his note that Mahalakshmi had allegedly bought a black suitcase with plans to dispose of his body after killing him. Investigators indeed found a black suitcase near the refrigerator, adding weight to his claims.
Grisly Discovery After Weeks of Suspicion
Mahalakshmi had been missing since early September, raising concerns among her neighbors. On September 21, after complaints of a foul smell, police entered her Bengaluru apartment and made a horrifying discovery: her dismembered body stored in the fridge, cut into 59 pieces. The case has gripped the city, as further chilling details emerge from the investigation.
According to reports, Mahalakshmi and Ray met while working at a garment store, where their relationship evolved from friendship into a romantic entanglement. However, tensions between them escalated as Mahalakshmi allegedly pressured Ray to marry her, leading to frequent arguments. Police suggest that during one of these altercations, Ray lost control, killing her and later mutilating her body.
A Tragic End
Days after the gruesome murder, Ray fled to Odisha, where he was later found dead under mysterious circumstances. His body was discovered hanging from a tree near the Dhusuri Police Station in Bhadrak district. A purported suicide note found at the scene provided a full confession of Mahalakshmi's murder, according to the Odisha police.
In his note, Ray claimed Mahalakshmi had been planning his murder for weeks, even purchasing the suitcase she allegedly intended to use to dispose of his body. "Her intention was to cut my body into pieces, put them in the suitcase, and dump it. I killed her in self-defense," the note reportedly stated.
A Case of Love Turned Deadly
The Mahalakshmi murder case has not only shocked the community but also raised questions about domestic violence, mental health, and the tragic outcomes of unresolved conflict in relationships. The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to piece together the sequence of events that led to the horrific crime.
As Bengaluru reels from the horror of this crime, police are delving deeper into the relationship dynamics between Ray and Mahalakshmi, seeking to understand how their love story took such a dark and violent turn.
